Maintenance Manager

Position Scope:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the department that ensures operation of machinery as it relates to the production of molded pulp, as well as the machinery located within the tool shop. As needed, the Maintenance Manager will coordinate services that address the immediate concerns related to machinery and/or the building. Assisting skilled trades and ensuring machinery is maintained in good working order also falls under the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager will ensure ALL preventative maintenance is scheduled and completed to standards needed. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for all employees working within the maintenance department.


Position Summary

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by coordinating and overseeing preventative maintenance requirements on molded pulp machinery. This includes, but is not limited to the molding and drying processes, including; motors, pumps, valves, conveyor systems, burner boxes, etc. .
  • Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions, and additions.
  • Meets maintenance financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • Follows diagrams, sketches, operator manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, lifts, cranes, hand and power tools
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques
  • Fabricates repair parts when necessary and/or utilizes outside vendors for repairs.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Anticipates needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders and verifying receipt.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with EnviroPAK procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to OSHA standards and the EnviroPAK Safety Policy.
  • Communicate effectively (oral and written) during management meetings. Keep other department managers aware of news from the maintenance department.
  • Perform direct labor duties as assigned by the Manager of Operations.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • High school education, GED equivalent and advanced technical school training.
  • 3 -5 years' experience working on mechanical equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Equipment Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Power Tools, Attention to Detail
  • Read and interpret work instructions, safety guidelines and other work related material.
  • Basic Mathematical skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds or less.
  • Physical stamina while working on your feet in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Be able to work in a loud manufacturing environment.
